NS Modular is growing, and we're on the lookout for a passionate, detail-driven Estimator, whose primary responsibility is preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction or fabrication projects. This role involves analyzing drawings and specifications, performing quantity takeoffs, coordinating with vendors and subcontractors, and supporting bid submissions. The Estimator works closely with project managers, senior estimators, and operations teams to ensure project success from pre-construction through execution. This position is primarily office-based with occasional site visits and may required extended work hours during bid closing periods. Work Location

This is a fully on-site based position in Nisku, Alberta (no remote or hybrid option)

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and bid documents
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost analysis
  • Prepare labor, material, and equipment cost estimates
  • Solicit and evaluate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of bids and proposals
  • Identify project risks, opportunities, and cost-saving measures
  • Maintain and update estimating databases and cost benchmarks
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client discussions
  • Support change order pricing and cost tracking during project execution
  • Collaborate with project managers and field teams to ensure estimate accuracy

 

What You Bring to the Table

  • Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
  • 3–7 years of estimating experience (construction, piping, modular, or related industry)
  • Experience with industrial or modular construction projects is preferred
  • Knowledge of contract types and project delivery methods (e.g., EPC, Design-Build) is preferred
  • Familiarity with cost control and project management principles is preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam or similar)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook) is required
  • Office-based position with ability to travel to perform occasional site visits as required
  • Ability to work extended hours as required and during bid closing periods
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and labor productivity

  • Strong ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to handle competing priorities simultaneously; work well under pressure with time-sensitive deadlines
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Possess a positive and professional attitude, set a high standard, and convey professionalism at all times
  • Any valid safety-related training certificates would be considered an asset (i.e., WHMIS, forklift, fall protection, etc.)
  • Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities
